Returning Teams

You must register your 2011 team as a NEW team. When asked 'Are you a new or returning user?' in the contact information step, select 'I don't have a log in' even if you have registered in the past. This is necessary due to upgrades to our online system for 2011 so that we can better serve our Walkers. We apologize for any inconvenience

REACH OUT
Reach Out
Now that you have customized your Walk Page and are armed and ready with your Personal Page URL, it's time to spread the word. Rule #1 of fundraising: You cannot receive donations unless you ask for them! There are lots of tools and best practices available for you to increase awareness of type 1 diabetes and your support of the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.
Walk Letter

Tried and true, letter writing campaigns yield maximum results in the least amount of time. The average letter raises $2,000! Don’t stress if you are unsure of how to get started. The Participant Center includes a variety of template emails for you to personalize.

Facebook App
According to polls, people now spend more time on social networking sites than they do on email. The JDRF Walk App has been proven to help walkers attract new donations from people you have newly reconnected with in your social network or with whom you may not have considered sending a letter or email to previously.

Matching Gifts
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. The impact of your gift to JDRF may be doubled or possibly tripled! To find out if your company has a matching gift policy click here and enter your employer's name.
Host a Fundraising Event
Organize your own fundraising event such as a bowl-a-thon, dinner party, car wash, bake sale, or garage sale; or partner with a local restaurant or bar and ask for a percentage of their sales during a given time period be donated to your Walk Team! Then be sure to go to JDRF's Social Hub and create an event listing to spread the word! JDRF will even help promote your event in the "Walk Talk" email newsletters.
Create A Video Letter
A personalized video is a great addition to your letter writing campaign. Give your friends a glimpse into the side of type 1 diabetes that is only known to those who live with the disease. The video is a perfect opportunity to share your passion for the cure.

Letter to the Editor
Help create awareness of the Walk and type 1 diabetes in your local community. Send a letter to the Editor at your community paper describing why it’s so important to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and how you are making a difference with your support of JDRF. Attach a photo or link to your personal video so they can find out more if desired. If you’d like help with reaching out to your newspaper, or if you secure a story, please contact Shelly Jensen (jjensen@jdrf.org) at JDRF.
